The Black Pearl
Campaign Finale
Summary
This will be a three episode mini-campaign to resolve the cliffhanger at the end of our previous Traveller campaign. It will also conclude several of the sub-plots of that campaign.
Introduction
Several weeks ago four of your companions, Gil, Mara, Zed and HK, took a simple mission on a passenger ship bound for Gitosy. The rest of you remained on Rhylanor with your own starship, a battered old safari class dubbed 'The Snowcat', during her much need overhaul. The overhaul has been complete for more than a week now, but your companions still haven't returned. . .and you're beginning to suspect foul play.
To make matters worse, the Snowcat's captain, an Imperial Navy veteran, just had his license suspended for medical reasons, and your chief engineer resigned his post and ran off, babbling some nonsense about 'Zho spooks'.
You need to lift off soon so you can find your companions before the trail gets cold, (and the mortgage on the ship comes due). Unfortunately, the insurance company won't let you lift without a captain, an engineer and a qualified medic, and all you have is a 17 year old girl genius, an Ivian refugee kid with a knack for mechanics, and an old man who used to be one of the Empire's Finest, an Imperial Marine.
Characters
Aside from Jason (who will be playing an old character), players have two character options for this brief campaign.
Option 1:
Play one of the existing PCs/NPCs that remain with the Snowcat on Rhylanor. These will be pre-generated with some room for individual customization. They are as follows:
Spartacus Doj (“Doj”)
Spartacus Doj was picked up by the crew of The Snowcat on Prozolo when they decided that they needed a few security personnel after a close call with a stowaway in jumpspace. He is 70 years old and has 29 years of combat experience. He spent the first 20 years of his military career as an officer in the Imperial Marines, during which he received numerous commendations inducing a starburst for extreme heroism and a knighthood in the Order of the Emperor's Guard. Doj owns a small apartment complex on Porozlo that brings in a comfortable living. He adventures primarily to fuel his sense of adventure and to fund his 'Anagathic Regimen' (anti-aging treatment). Doj has several 'secrets' that motivate his actions.
Teles Nordin
Teles is Denise's former character, an attractive seventeen year old girl from the powerful world of Sylea. She is extremely clever and has met all the requirements for a Master's License (necessary to captain a ship), but her application was denied due to her age. Since joining the crew of The Snowcat she has discovered that some factions of the Imperium have been watching her. From what she has learned, their interest is related to some ability or talent that her father possessed.
According to her mother, Teles was conceived in a rape that occurred while she was a student at the University of Sylea. She has since learned that her mother's rape was the event that catalyzed Sylean public opinion against non-syleans, culminating in the Sylean Purist Movement in 1096. The only thing she knows about her father is that his name is 'Ishugi K.' and that he was a student at the same time as her mother. She still doesn't know why the Imperium is interested in him.
Toma Vonada
Toma is a refugee from a family of Ivian zealots on Fulacin. Ivians are cultists that believe all sentients are indebted to their creator for providing their physical body. Ivian zealots actively seek to lessen this debt by cybernetic replacement. They have a dubious reputation on many civilized worlds but are sometimes welcomed on backwaters for their cybernetic and medical expertise.
Toma joined the crew during a stopover on Fulacin when the former chief engineer, Braxton, helped her stow away to escape an unwanted surgery to replace her remarkable blue eyes (Distinctive Feature). She is only 14 Imperial Years old, but due to her Ivian background, she has a solid grasp of cybernetics and electronics and has been working as a technician on the ship since she was discovered. She has an adult sized cybernetic hand on her left side and is actively sought by the Ivian zealot community.
Option 2:
Create a new character suitable to the campaign that can be easily inserted into the party as play starts. This means he/she should have some applicable skill to the theme of the adventure. New characters are limited as follows:
Starting Points: 120 points
Disadvantage Limit: 40 points
Quirk Limit: 5 points
Starting Tech Level: TL3 – TL10
Details: Supplimentary material about the campaign world as well as character and racial templates will be forthcoming very soon.
