Do any of the religions try to explain magic and its association with the deities?

The faiths, other than the Danicians, believe that magic is a gift from a God.  The people who have it are blessed, much as they would a brilliant scholar, professional athlete, or weapon master.  The gift of magic is said to be amplified in those who find favor of (insert their god here) and dampened in those who fail to please their god.

Danicians believe that having magic is a trial of ones faithfulness, and should never be used.  Refusing to give up magic can get one killed.

Alrighty... at this point there is now a "Gaia Campaign" base page that you can create as many sub pages to as you like.  While this instance doesn't currently have it, I'd be happy to install the menu builder I showed you on my website to allow more granular navigation between the campaign pages.

Just a few thoughts...

Opportunists
If I remember correctly, religion in Gaia has only recently come back into fashion after a long hiatus by the gods (humanity even forgot their names).  With the sudden resurgence in the popularity of religion it is almost certain that oppotunists will try to step in and create their own religions to swindle the gullible out of money.  (Mort is convinced that Orkistism is one of those religions).  It seems likely that the business of two-bit mages posing as prophets and priests would be booming in Gaia right now.

Afterlife
I don't see a lot of mention of afterlife in your descriptions (except for a mention of hell in Orkist's description).  Most religions are deeply concerned with the afterlife and use it as both a whip and carrot to prod their followers into obediance.  It might be good to mention the individual beliefs of each religion.

Magic & Religion
There is no question that Magic is THE competition for religion.  Notice the resurgence of religion in the Celestine empire coincides exactly with the suppression of Magic.  As religious sentiment continues to grow I would expect to see greater polarization between magic and religion.  Religions like Orkistism that rely on people with magery may find the going tough as they compete with the guilds for the same talent pool.  Since government will be naturally hostile to members of the "illegal" mage guilds, some short-sighted officials may look to priests to fill their need for War Mages, scryers and other magical talent, further cementing the relationship between religion and government and funneling government money to the church's coffers.  Man... that is starting to sound pretty apocalyptic.

Sean, you'd better be careful before you delve too deep into the plot :)

Hmm... that gives me an idea -- what if an enterprising group of mages were to create their own religion that centers around the god of magic?  It is no longer magic but is religion.
