Prior to leaving Riverton, we freed a dwarf and an ogre being held by the traitor mage chicks. They had been hired by the Creator's Hand to track down the mages, and we wanted to put them on the trail of Feldon. We also needed the Creator's Hand to deal with the magic circle, as it seemed highly charged to the mages that would know, and none of them knew how to defuse it without destroying half the city along with it.

After letting the remaining coven members know about the circle, and leaking information about the circle to the Creator's Hand in a couple of different manners, we left the city.

When we arrived at the Creator's Hand outpost, we had found that most of the troops had already left for Riverton - before we had given information about the circle of power. Zakhar flew back to Riverton to let the coven know to get out before the army arrived. The rest of us spent the day planning our assault on the outpost. It seemed suicidal at best, but we all decided to go through with it, pending news from Zakhar. Zakhar got back the next morning, and let us know that Alatron and the other coven members were getting out of Riverton, and that he had arranged a meeting spot for us to catch up with them later.

Tonight we managed to sneak into the Creator's Hand fort - and we thought we'd done a pretty good job of doing so unnoticed, when we got down to the dungeon where Zafeer's brother was being kept and found half the garrison waiting for us. We heard other soldiers move into the passage behind us. The captain invited us in, thanking a red-scaled lizard man for his information. Stunned into inaction, we waited for a few moments apparently hoping we were just having a bad dream.

Suddenly, the lizard man struck the captain's head from his shoulders in a swift smooth motion. Deciding to take advantage of the new chaos, we went ahead and charged into the room. I moved in forming a line with Bernard and Kirpu. I managed to take a couple of guards down before seeing that Bernard was struggling to close the door behind us. I went over to help him close and bar the door.

The lizard man was a dervish of a warrior, quickly moving in and out, and falling a foe with every swing. Definitely someone I wouldn't want to make an enemy out of, and obviously not someone I would ever want to think of as an ally, seeing how easily betrayal came to him. Apparently, the word snakelike regarding trustworthiness has merit - sure, I guess a snake looks sneaky and lulls you into calm right before it strikes, but it appears to extend to these lizard folk as well.

He mopped up, then disappeared. A few moments later, we heard fighting on the other side of the door. Not wanting to waste our time, we went and opened all of the cells, looking for Zafeer's brother. We told the prisoners that they were free to take weapons from the dead soldiers and fight free with us if they wanted, but we couldn't do much more than get out of the fort with them.

We found Zafeer's brother and met up with the mages at the meeting spot near Riverton. We noticed the city was burning when we got close enough to see it - it explains the smoky sky and ash in the air I've been noticing. Looks like the magic circle is dealt with, one way or another.

When we arrived back at home base, we didn't get much rest. One morning, I was roused to go to a public funeral for some general that had died while we were away. While attending the funeral, all of a sudden, people in the crowd started exploding - yelling some gibberish about them being a pointless suicide, then popping. I couldn't really see anyone else get hurt by the display, aside from getting bits of goo on their clothes and emotionally scarring a few children.

A few days later, we received our next mission to go find a man named Ethan, and silence him.

There's something going on with Fisher. When we teleported in to our new safehouse, the man there told us we would have to wait in the basement until nightfall in order to avoid blowing the house's cover deep in enemy territory. Rico started to freak out and said, "If you expect me to go down there, you'd have to kn..." at which point Fisher wound up and smacked Rico in the face, knocking him unconscious. We all stood there, not quite sure what to make of it. Rico came to, stood up, and stomped out the front door, slamming it mightily behind him.

The rest of us somberly shuffled down to the basement, leaving a wide berth around Fisher. We waited quietly throughout the rest of the day, and then eagerly stepped outside when nightfall came.

No one had any ideas of what to do, so Mal wandered off in disgust. The rest of the night, the rest of us wandered around wondering what to do, with Mal having left us to our own devices with no orders. I hopped along the rooftops, just watching for something happening in the night.

The next morning when we grouped up, everyone said they hadn't found anything. Mal sat himself down at a table, where a couple of other men eventually joined him. A few moments later, Fisher ended up inviting himself to the same table. They all talked for a bit, and then the other men left.

Being left completely in the dark until nightfall, Mal eventually told me to take up a lookout position for him near the docks. I waited in position for a few hours. At one point, Mal walked out and met with some men on the dock. Again, Fisher went with him. Mal didn't like what was going on between them, as I could tell by the way he stomped back off the dock and I noticed flames flickering to life and then disappearing at his fingertips. He looked to be barely restraining himself from something.

I found out later as we were walking to where we could allegedly find Ethan, when Mal exploded at Fisher, that apparently Fisher had given the men a bunch of information that Mal had been intending to use as a bargaining chip, and now couldn't. It appears that it worked out - this time - because the men did take us to Ethan's sister or something, and gained us a guide to the sacred spirit grounds. Sounds lucky, but he shouldn't have done it in front of outsiders, let alone in front of the other soldiers. He'd have received lashes for that back in the army, and that's if the officer was in a good mood.
